How does the therapeutic field benefit from CBD?
This cannabinoid, present in the chemical composition of Cannabis Sativa, has proved to have multiple therapeutic benefits. Several scientific studies have found that CBD possesses the following properties:
- Anticonvulsant: really effective in reducing seizures in Dravet Syndrome, for example.
- Antispasmodic: great for treating diseases similar to multiple sclerosis.
- Neuroprotective: beneficial for the treatment of neurodegenerative illnesses such as Alzheimer or Parkinson.
- Anxiolytic and antipsychotic: perfect for fighting anxiety or some mental disorders.
- Analgesic and anti-inflammatory: effective for the treatment of chronic pain
How does the recreational field benefit from CBD?
CBD or cannabidiol acts as an antagonist of THC, meaning some typical THC-associated adverse events such as tachycardia or dry mouth are counteracted. CBD can make a powerful ally for those users who have difficulty coping with THC's psychoactivity because it reduces its effect making it more bearable, sustainable and suitable for daily use. If we were to make a comparison, we'd say that consuming high-THC and low-CBD strains would be like drinking a glass of whiskey while CBD-rich genetics would be more similar to drinking a beer.
What should I know before making CBD oil?
Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, which is why almond oil and olive oil are such effective solvents, marvelously extracting and preserving resin, and, of course, sweeping along cannabinoids. Before you start making your own CBD oil, we'd like to make sure the following aspects are crystal clear:
Quality raw material: the cannabis you've decided to make your extraction with should have been grown, if possible, with organic growing methods and no pesticides or other health-damaging products.
Oil: we recommend using cold-pressed virgin olive oil and storing it in a glass container.
Use the right strain: in order to insure high CBD levels, using CBD-rich genetics is essential. Here are our suggestions:
Blue Dream CBD: 1:1 ratio with 10% of THC y 10% of CBD Green Crack CBD: 1:2 ratio with 6% of THC y 12% of CBD
How to make CBD oil
Here's what you'll need…
- 5 g of Green Crack CBD cannabis buds
- 500 ml of olive oil
- 1 glass bowl with cover
- 1 sieve
- 1 saucepan
Procedure
- Fill the saucepan ½ full with water and heat it up slowly.
- Add the olive oil and then the cannabis buds. Water cannot go past 100ºC because that's its evaporation point. This way, you'll prevent some cannabinoids and, more specifically, CBD from fully disappearing.
- Stir the buds gently with a wooden spoon.
- Leave the saucepan bubbling for about 30 minutes while you keep stirring every now and then.
- After an hour, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow to cool.
- When the liquid is cool, put it in the freezer because, this way, it's easier to separate the olive oil from the water.
- Once ready, allow to rest out of the fridge at room temperature.
- Filter the oil into the sieve and remove all ligneous materials.
